Marifrán Carazo stresses the commitment of the current government, with €50 million invested to complete the long-awaited connection to the A-7.

The Regional Minister for Development, Territorial Planning and Housing, Marifrán Carazo, has informed that the feasibility study to increase the capacity and improve road safety on the A-334 road from Baza to the already completed sections of the Almanzora Dual Carriageway is already being drafted. Marifrán Carazo highlighted in the Plenary Session of the Parliament that the Andalusian Government has invested in just three years more than 50 million euros in the completion of the «main communication corridor of the marble region with the Mediterranean Motorway (A-7)».

The Councillor recalled «the ordeal» suffered by the inhabitants of this area of the province of Almería for a motorway that was promised almost 40 years ago, in 1986, but whose first stone was not laid until 2005 and which, in its development, has been full of inconveniences, among them the paralysis of sections already awarded for which «we had to pay 17 million euros to all Andalusians in claims».

«It has taken the government of Juanma Moreno to resume all the pending works, execute them and finish them, fulfilling the objectives set», she pointed out in her speech. Marifrán Carazo recalled how the El Cucador-La Concepción section was completed a year ago, with an investment of 25.6 million euros and six months ahead of schedule, and also how the section that will link the Almanzora Dual Carriageway with the A-7 is being developed, in which «we started from scratch because we had to update an old project and pass its environmental procedure». At present, the work, with an investment of 24 million euros, is at 60 percent completion and is expected to be finished by 2023.

Work on the new stretches

The Councillor pointed out that, given the disparity in traffic data found on the A-335, the Regional Ministry of Public Works had commissioned the necessary feasibility studies to determine the possible solutions for increasing the road’s capacity and their cost. «We have already drafted the feasibility study for the project to increase the capacity of the road in the province of Granada and we are planning to put out to tender the study of the section to Fines in the province of Almería,» he said. In addition, he added that the works will be processed in such a way as to allow economic programming, as well as the drafting of the corresponding construction projects.
