The clubs «Vive San Javier» and «Club Ciclista Mar Menor» have renewed their collaboration agreements with the Town Hall of San Javier, within the round of signatures and meetings that the Mayor José Miguel Luengo and the Councillor for Sports, Sergio Martínez, are holding with the different sports clubs in the municipality.
The agreements that have been signed over the last few weeks establish the cession of a municipal space for sports practice to facilitate competition and grassroots sport in different modalities and categories in the municipality.
The «Vive San Javier» Club is a multisport club that is federated in three sports disciplines: athletics, triathlon and mountain.

At present, a large part of its activity is centred on athletics, both with sports schools and improvement groups, as well as sports training for the triathlon section.
Antonio Guardiola, who has been at the head of the club for the last nine years, recalls how in that time it has grown «from around 40 children to the 260 users that the club has», which was founded in 2002 and which uses the athletics track of the municipal sports centre through the agreement that has now been renewed.
Miguel Ángel Callejas presides over the Mar Menor Cycling Club, one of the oldest in the municipality since it was formed in 1985.
The club, which maintains a continuous sporting activity, with its weekend outings in which both its 40 members and amateurs take part, is characterised by the events it organises throughout the year.
Among its most popular events is the veteran «Interclubes Campo de Cartagena», which has been held for 38 years.
Coinciding with the fiestas of El Mirador, a day of trials is held with the children’s schools and with those of San Javier, the Maratón Ciclista Popular, of a family nature.
This year, it has also just hosted the Regional Cycle Cross Championship, and has historically collaborated in the organisation of the starts and finishes of the Tour of the Region of Murcia and also of the Tour of Spain, in the municipality.
