Officers from the Almeria Civil Guard Command identified two hunters who fired shots from a makeshift post near inhabited dwellings, in an area of common use where neighbours often go for walks with their pets or do sport.
The action was initiated thanks to the collaboration of citizens who informed the agents that in an area close to inhabited dwellings in the area known as «Media Legua», in the municipality of Vera, gunshots are often heard very close to the dwellings.
The agents carried out foot patrols in the area, locating a makeshift post in an abandoned building, as well as a rudimentary feeding ground to attract the wild boars, so they determined that shots were indeed being fired in that place, with the consequent danger to the safety of the people who regularly pass through the area.

After a series of discreet surveillance, an all-terrain vehicle used by the perpetrators to move around was observed parked in the area, and they proceeded with the appropriate security measures to identify them as they were leaving the area.
The officers found in the vehicle various gear and weapons, including two rifles, one of them with a torch attachment, a thermal rifle scope and a knife.
The agents found that the perpetrators did not have a permit for hunting wild boar in the area. Similarly, the use of a thermal viewer is prohibited because the land is not covered by the health emergency declared in the resolution of 20 May 2022, joint resolution of the General Directorate of Agricultural and Livestock Production and the General Directorate of Natural Environment, Biodiversity and Protected Spaces, which declares the area of temporary hunting emergency due to damage and health risks of wild boar and feral pigs in the autonomous community of Andalusia.
For all these reasons, the report is sent to the Territorial Delegation in Almeria of the Regional Ministry of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy for the infringements observed in the area of hunting (Law 8/2002 of 28 October) and to the Government Subdelegation for the infringements observed in the area of public safety.
