Cantoria beats bottom team and takes a breath of fresh air
Cerri scores the partial equaliser against Vilches.

Cantoria 2017 achieved an important victory at home this Sunday against Club Deportivo Vilches, a match corresponding to matchday 12 of group 2 of the Andalusian Division of Honour.

Poor results due to their own mistakes and lack of accuracy in front of goal had put Cantoria in the relegation zone, so a win against the bottom team was essential to escape from the bottom of the table.

However, the visitors took the lead early in the game. Manu Castillo’s masterly finish past Alberto in the second minute surprised the home crowd. 0-1.
But the black-and-gold team reacted quickly and hit back. In the 4th minute Cerri scored the partial equaliser for Ricardo Mora’s team after an individual play by Miguel Ángel that left him one on one in front of the goalkeeper. 1 to 1 and it was back to square one.

From that moment on it was all Cantoria 2017 with the overflow of Miguel Ángel, the runs of Reche and the verticality of Cerri, who brought danger to the goal defended by Baras.

The local 9 had perhaps one of his best games in Los Olivos. In the 23rd minute, the referee Nieves Delgado disallowed a goal for being in an advanced position at the behest of her assistant. In the 45th minute, Cerrillo again came close to scoring, beating Baras in the air but the defender from Jaén denied the ball before it went into the net. The score remained level and the game went to the break.

At the start of the second half, (‘1) Guille Cruz turned the score around to make it 2-1. In the 23rd minute, the newly introduced Capel shot into the top right corner of the visitors’ goal. It was a great goal and the player from Cóbdar put the game back on level terms in a match where both teams had a lot at stake.

Capel could have scored again in the 36th minute, but the Vilches defender denied in extremis a ball that was going straight into the goal with the goalkeeper beaten.

Cantoria won and won well. They could have scored more goals and played a good game against an opponent who did not create any danger at any stage of the game.

Now it’s time to keep their concentration and aim, and travel next week to Jaén to face Villacarrillo in another direct duel to maintain the category.
