Guardia Civil investigates four youths for graffiti in San JavierThe Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed in San Javier the operation ‘Grafino’, an investigation initiated to clarify a series of crimes of damage consisting of graffiti on homes, street furniture and vehicles, which has resulted in the identification, location and investigation of four young people, as alleged perpetrators.

The actions began last summer, when the Guardia Civil opened the operation to clarify the authorship of a series of graffiti on the façades of houses, walls of commercial premises, garage doors, street furniture, road fences and even vehicles.

The investigations carried out, made up of the initial evidence, the graffiti artists’ own works and the material they left behind in their paintings, together with other investigations, enabled the Benemérita investigators in San Javier to identify several young people who were allegedly behind the acts under investigation.

Once all the necessary evidence had been obtained and the four suspects had been located, the Guardia Civil set up a search operation for them, which has recently culminated in their location and investigation, and they have been prosecuted as the alleged perpetrators of the crime of damage, having so far cleared up six criminal acts.

The amount of damage caused exceeds 6,000 euros.

After several months of operation, the Civil Guards, specialised in Public Safety Prevention, have found that the four investigated acted separately in two pairs. One travelled to San Javier from Torre Pacheco and the other from Murcia to carry out the graffiti, which caused damage to various surfaces to a value of more than 6,000 euros, due to the costs of cleaning, repairing and replacing the material to return the surfaces to their original state.

The authors of this type of actions, which on this occasion, exceed ten in all types of surfaces, both in public fences, garage doors, facades, walls of premises, etc. are intended to disseminate the work of their creators, in order to make themselves known as a coincidence in all of them.

During the various actions carried out as part of the operation, the Guardia Civil investigators seized some of the paint pots used in the criminal activity that has now been cleared up.

The investigated, the effects seized and the proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction of San Javier (Murcia).
