The Guardia Civil of the Command of Almeria after an arduous investigation, arrested a 47 year old man as the perpetrator of more than twenty crimes of burglary and theft, committed in boats moored in the port of Garrucha and recovered much of the stolen items, in addition, he is also charged with another crime of fraud of electricity.
This operation began as a result of the various complaints filed by the owners of the boats moored in the port of Garrucha, where the Guardia Civil personnel from the Almeria Command, travelled on each occasion to collect any evidence and gather as much information as possible.
After carrying out a complete analysis of the information gathered, derived from citizen collaboration and the clues collected in the places where the robberies and thefts are committed, the personnel in charge of the investigation carry out a thorough reconstruction of the facts, which allows them to find out the modus operandi carried out by the perpetrator and his subsequent identification.
The perpetrator, in order to avoid being located by the port’s security cameras and surveillance personnel, accesses the pontoons, where the boats are moored, through the water, equipped with a modified diving suit (hiding its reflectors and with a hook on the chest for a knife and lighting on the hood).also, he uses different means of flotation and watertightness that later serve him to transport the loot.
Finally, the perpetrator offers the stolen objects for sale through different social networks and internet sales portals for second-hand material, always using different pseudonyms to make it difficult to identify him.
As a result of this arduous and meticulous investigation, the Guardia Civil of the Almeria Command organised a search and location device and carried out the inspection and search of the author’s home, where they located and seized 12 maritime navigation system plotters, 21 naval indicator clocks, 8 VHF transmission equipment with hands-free system, numerous and numerous specific input connectors for navigation equipment, 1 pleasure boat bridge console, 1 marine frequency radio station, 3 watertight diving transport bags, 1 goat leg, camouflage make-up set, 3 diving torches, 1 large 15 m2 pleasure boat sail, complete diving suit equipment modified and adapted for the commission of the offences, 2 auxiliary diving rafts for transport, 3 mobile phones and 1 personal computer.
