Sports activities of the Almeria Provincial Council reach all municipalities

The Sports area of the Provincial Council of Almeria has been carrying out extensive work in favour of sport in each of the 103 municipalities and the Minor Local Entity that make up the province. The year 2022 has brought record figures in terms of the number of participants and sporting activities that have been held in every corner of Almería. Through our own activities, those programmed together with the town councils and those aimed at the third sector (federations, associations and sports clubs), detailed attention has been paid to each sector of the population, from the youngest to the oldest, including activities for families and those for people with disabilities.

The optimisation and broad execution of the budget has brought with it a programme of activities that includes the Provincial Sports Games for schoolchildren, activities in the natural environment for families, as well as for young people and adults, sports and health schools aimed at the elderly, provincial circuits, municipal sports activities in which the Provincial Council has participated through financial assistance or the provision of sports equipment and the sports and disability project so that everyone has access to these activities.

The Deputy for Sports, José Antonio García, stressed that “the sports sector in the province is going through its best period thanks to the President’s determination to make Almería a national reference point for sport and to the civil servants for their work and involvement with all the municipalities. We have a committed team that works every year on a comprehensive planning programme that will mark the future sports development of all our towns”.

On the other hand, the provincial deputy added that “Almeria has become a reference with the celebration of major sporting events such as the Titan Desert, the Vuelta, the Desert or the celebration of regional competitions in our province. We continue to work on the idea of promoting the binomial sport and tourism so that visitors and athletes who come to Almeria can enjoy and get to know the natural beauty that we enjoy as the only desert in Europe, the largest visitable Geode in the world or the pristine beaches that make up our coasts.
