Today, Friday, is one of the big days in the municipality of Olula del Río. The Procession in honour of San Sebastián takes place, with the traditional throwing of donuts from the balconies as the Patron Saint passes by.
Shortly after 11 o’clock in the morning, the members of the Peña San Sebastián, started the procession in the church of San Sebastián -after the blessing of Antonio, the local parish priest-, to the church of the Asunción where at 12.30 the holy mass was celebrated.
To the cry of “viva San Sebastián” and under a shower of “roscos”, the images were carried in procession through the main streets of the village.
The celebrations will continue until next Monday 23 January, a public holiday in honour of St. Ildefonso.
