
Costa de Almería’ kicked off its participation in FITUR, the International Tourism Fair, on Wednesday with an intense agenda of professional meetings and the presentation of the destinations and campaigns promoted by different town councils in the province of Almería.
Tíjola Town Council was present at the Diputación’s stand on the first day. The Mayor of the town, José Juan Martínez and the Councillor for Tourism, Maribel Tapia, accompanied, among others, by the Delegate of Tourism of the Junta in Almería, José Vélez, and the President of the Provincial Council, Javier Aureliano García, presented a promotional video in which they highlighted the natural sites of the town such as the Balsa de Cela, the Paraje La Cerrá or the Vía Verde.
They also showed the unique festivities of this village in our region, such as the carpets of coloured sawdust on the day of the Virgin of Fatima. A unique festival that the Tíjola Town Hall is working to get declared of Tourist Interest in Andalusia and as the mayor himself has said, “the Delegate of Tourism has confirmed that the declaration of Tourist Interest of our festival of the Virgin of Fatima has all the favourable reports of the Ministry of Tourism. We have the backing of the Junta and we are closer to achieving it”.

In this promotional video presented before numerous authorities and media, also shows the Moors and Christians performance in the Higueral neighbourhood or the San Sebastian Festival, with its rain of donuts that is celebrated this week.
“I would like to thank the president of the Provincial Council, Javier Aureliano García, for being with us at this event, and for offering us the opportunity to showcase our town at the most important tourism fair,” said the mayor after the promotional event.
