Next Sunday 5th February the big competitions start in Andalusia. The Andalusian Triathlon Schools will compete in the IV Junior Duathlon “Ciudad de Tíjola”.
The event, organised by the local club C.D. Triatlón Tíjola – Ociodeporte Baza, with the collaboration of the Tíjola Town Hall, the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Andalusian Triathlon Federation, will be the first qualifying event of the IX Andalusian Junior Duathlon Circuit and the III Andalusian League of Triathlon Schools.
From 09:00 hours on Sunday, the almost 200 registered participants will begin to crowd the Municipal Park “El Paseo” in Tíjola, which will be where the transition area and the nerve centre of the race will be located.
The competition will start at 10:00 am, beginning with the start of the junior categories in which the Andalusian Duathlon Championship will be disputed, in which a total of 41 duathletes will participate. They will have to complete a first section of 2 km of running, 8 km of cycling and 1 km of running before crossing the finish line.
In addition to all of the above, the race will also be the first of the 4 qualifying races of the II Circuito Provincial de Triatlón de Menores Diputación de Almería.
At the end of the juvenile race, the different categories will start until, at 13:52, the last start will be given to the female prebenjamín category. The day is scheduled to finish at around 14:30 after the prize-giving ceremony.
Registration closed last Monday and a total of 191 duathletes from all over Andalusia have registered for the race, 56% of them in the male category and 44% in the female category.
