The Guardia Civil de la Almeria Command is activating a rescue operation as quickly as possible to recover the lifeless body of a paraglider who has had an accident in Sierra Alhamilla.
The operation is carried out with sufficient diligence to ensure that light conditions do not prevent it. For this purpose, additional means are activated, which at the time of this activation were attending to other incidents.
At around 14:00 hours yesterday, 01 February, 112 alerted the Command and Control Operational Centre of the Guardia Civil Command in Almería, alerting that a person was in a very serious condition after falling from a height of over 60 metres while paragliding in the area of «Loma de los Cuernos», Sierra Alhamilla, in the municipality of Pechina.

Several patrols of the Guardia Civil of Almeria and the Local Police of the municipality of Pechina, where three paragliders are performing cardio pulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres on their injured colleague. The 061 Emergency Service sent a helicopter to the medical services who, after trying everything possible to revive him, could only certify his death.
Given the difficulty of the terrain and the impossibility of carrying out the rescue on foot, added to the fact that daylight hours were running out, the Guardia Civil of Almería activated the high mountain rescue unit (GREIM) and the helicopter unit (UHEL) of the Guardia Civil, who managed to recover the lifeless body of the injured man at around 18.15 hours and transfer him to a safe intermediate area so that he could later be taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Almería.
Units participating in the rescue, citizen security patrols of the Command of the Civil Guard of Almeria, UHEL and GREIM located in the Command of the Civil Guard of Granada, Local Police of Pechina, emergency units of 061 and Firefighters of Almeria.
This action has made it possible to speed up all the legal procedures within the consternation of an event with this fateful outcome.
