The Moisés Ruiz pavilion has hosted the presentation of a new edition of the classic Rallye del Almanzora. A competition that will run through this region on 10 and 11 February and which has the support of the Provincial Institution and the participating municipalities. The presentation ceremony was attended by the deputy for sports, José Antonio García; the president of the Andalusian Automobile Federation, Manolo Alonso; the president of the organising committee, Salvador Segura, and the town councillors of Olula del Río, Albanchez, Líjar, Chercos and Zurgena.
This new edition of the rally, which will run through the natural landscapes of the Almanzora, will be held in the municipality of Olula, with the fairgrounds as the nerve centre of the event. The prize-giving ceremony will take place at the José Juan Rodríguez football pitch in the same municipality. The villages where the event takes place will experience a weekend of great importance in which sport, tourism and gastronomy come together for the Andalusian Asphalt and Regularity Rally Championship.
The deputy of Sports, José Antonio García, has highlighted that «from the Diputación we appreciate the work that is being done from the organization. In the first place, because it unites many villages and is a very ambitious project that is nine years old and secondly because it shows the importance of the motor world in the province of Almeria. It is the first event in the provincial calendar, so I invite all the people of Almeria to enjoy the cars that will be taking part in this edition».
For his part, the mayor of Olula del Río, Antonio Martínez, said that «we are delighted to continue making a project like this a reality and it is a source of pride that Olula continues to be part of it as a nerve centre. This is proof of the social and economic dynamism of the municipalities, especially the shops and the fight against depopulation».
On the other hand, the president of the Andalusian Automobile Federation, Manolo Alonso, stressed that «this is the first event to be held in 2023 in Andalusia and we hope that this year will be as positive as the rest. I reiterate my congratulations to the president of the ‘Balcón del Almanzora’ club for setting up this rally and to all the participating institutions».
Finally, the president of the organising committee, Salvador Segura, invited everyone to enjoy a weekend with family and friends who love motor racing. «The rally will have Olula del Río as its nerve centre and will connect with four other towns, with a total of 30 registered participants.
