Last weekend the San Blas park hosted the first events of the year of «In your park or mine» and «Network of Meeting Points for the Elderly», the two actions that promote coexistence and enjoyment of municipal parks, organised by the councils of Parks and Gardens and Social Rights, respectively. «En tu parque o en el mío» has been held successfully for seven years, organised by the Parks and Gardens Department, aimed at children, while the Network of Meeting Points, which was set up two years ago after the pandemic, focuses on the elderly and facilitating their socialisation.
The councillors for Parks and Gardens, María Dolores Ruiz, and for Social Rights, Estíbaliz Masegosa, took stock of both initiatives and announced that they will continue through 2023 with a monthly meeting for each of the actions. Estíbaliz Masegosa recalled that San Javier is a Child Friendly City and an Elderly Friendly City, which is why the government is committed to this type of action aimed at ensuring the welfare of these two sectors of the population. Masegosa added that the Network of Meeting Points is proving to be a particularly useful tool in the programme being developed by her council, «Ageing 360», which works towards active ageing in all areas.
María Dolores Ruiz explained that the development of both activities will continue as before with a welcome, a snack or breakfast, depending on the schedule, various activities that vary depending on the occasion, and raffles. Ruiz recalled that for the most faithful there is a special draw that is carried out with the cards that are distributed at each event and with which you can enter the draw after having stamped at least half of the card by attending the monthly appointments in the various parks. In the case of the elderly, a tablet will be raffled, to facilitate their use of technology and the internet, and in the case of children, a bicycle.
