The Association Friends of the Railway of the Baza Region and the platform Region of Guadix for the Train are demanding the Provincial Council, the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Government of Spain (both Government Subdelegations and the Delegate in Andalusia Pedro Fernandez), and also to the business and trade union organisations, their explicit and strong support for the inclusion of the reopening of the Guadix Baza Almanzora Lorca railway line in the Trans-European Transport Network and in the route of the European rail corridors.
This railway branch, on which work is currently underway on the Informative Study for its reopening, has been shown to be the most viable and profitable option for completing the Mediterranean Corridor through the inland regions of the south-east of the peninsula. Moreover, it is an essential infrastructure to structure these ‘emptied’ regions and to stop the harmful depopulation process they are suffering.
In the same way, the railway collectives reproach that the institutions maintain excessive «navel-gazing» towards the provincial capitals and leave too much in oblivion to the claims of the rest of the regions, as is the case of the railway claims.
