The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia has arrested the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault on his partner in Cartagena (Murcia) who fled after committing the acts, according to sources from the Benemérita in a statement.
The arrest has taken place in the framework of the operation ‘Veradi’, an investigation aimed at locating and arresting the alleged perpetrator of the sexual assault on his partner that has culminated, 24 hours later, with the arrest of the individual in the municipality of Quintanar de la Orden (Toledo).
The detainee is a 44-year-old man of Spanish nationality, a resident of Cartagena, who was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of sexual assault and harassment in the context of gender violence.

The investigation began when a woman reported to the Guardia Civil that she was being abused by her partner, with whom she had been living for several months. The victim recounted the latest episode of sexual violence for which she had to be treated at the Santa Lucía hospital in Cartagena.
From that moment on, investigators from the Benemérita began the search for the suspect, who was known to have a long criminal record for crimes of drug trafficking, robbery and gender violence.
After the first investigations and in view of his possible escape to other municipalities, even outside the Region of Murcia, the Benemérita extended the search radius to a national level.
In less than 24 hours, the Guardia Civil obtained a first lead that located him in the municipality of Quintanar de la Orden in Toledo, where a police operation was set up to arrest him.
The Benemérita managed to locate the individual when he was in the room of a club in the municipality, where he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of sexual assault and harassment in the context of gender violence.
The detainee and the proceedings were placed at the disposal of the Gender Violence Court in Quintanar de la Orden (Toledo), and he was remanded in custody.
