The Department of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing has approved a grant of 150,000 euros to the Town Council of Layora, which has benefited from the programme for the Promotion of the Public Rental Housing Stock of the Plan Vive En Andalucía 2020-2030. Specifically, this grant has been allocated to the rehabilitation of a building in Estación Street in this town of Almanzora for the construction of 4 affordable rental housing units.
The territorial delegate for Development, Territorial Development and Housing, Carmen Belén López Zapata, together with the mayoress of Laroya, Dolores Moreno, visited the works that are currently underway. López Zapata said that «this is a subsidy from the Andalusian government that aims to promote renting and at the same time create jobs for the residents». As detailed by the delegate, «the call aims to implement the stock of subsidised housing for rent and make it available, through new construction, renovation or rehabilitation, as is the case in this town». The resulting homes will be classified as subsidised housing in special or general regime and will maintain the obligation to keep the rental regime for at least 25 years.
For her part, the mayoress of Laroya stressed «the importance of the implementation of this aid and the value it has for the smaller municipalities because it is essential to settle the residents and prevent the depopulation of the inland villages». Dolores Moreno thanked the Regional Government of Andalusia for «the different actions it is developing in the area of housing as well as the aid to repair public infrastructures damaged by the torrential rains last spring».
