550,000 euros to prevent fires in the Sierra María Los Vélez Natural Park
The work includes clearing of the pine forest, pruning of trees and selective clearing of scrub.

The Regional Ministry of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy is carrying out preventive forestry treatments on 293 hectares of the public forests of Sierra Larga, Silos or Cuesta del Alcaide and Serrata de Guadalupe, in Vélez-Blanco, with a budget of 548,347 euros.

The territorial delegate, Manuel de la Torre, together with the conservation director of the Sierra María Los Vélez Natural Park, Jaime de Lara, the unit coordinator of the Environmental Agents, Jorge Pérez, and a group of students from the training course in Management and Organisation of Natural and Landscape Resources at the José Marín Secondary School in Vélez Rubio, have checked the execution of a fire prevention strip in Sierra Larga which includes clearing the pine forest, pruning trees and selective clearing of scrubland.
