More than four hundred people celebrated Andalusia Day in Olula del Río. The municipality has lived a festive day that began at mid-morning with the dances of the Municipal School of Dance of Trini Villegas. It was the beginning of a day that invited many neighbours to go out into the streets, despite the cold and low temperatures.
The multi-purpose hall was full of Olulal’s neighbours, as well as many neighbours from other nearby towns who have enjoyed the 28F in this town.
One of the most emotional moments was the presentation of awards to local residents and groups who this year have been recognised by the town council for their contribution, work and dedication to the town of Olula.
The Asociación Parkinson Almería (APAL), in the person of its founding president, María González Acosta. Eduardo Rodríguez Díaz, ‘Eduardo El Guardia’ for his dedication to the town of Olula del Río. Catalina Sánchez Silva and Dolores Sánchez Silva; two sisters and teachers of the town. The Ver de Olula Motocross Club; for their dedication and passion for promoting the discipline of motorcycling. Juan Martínez Pérez, ‘Juan el de Cullar’ for his personalised attention to the people of Olula in his business. Dolores Pérez Cano and Francisco Asensio Sánchez, a married couple who for years have run the ‘Bar de la Gasolinera’. Pilar Teruel Gallego; for a lifetime dedicated to her family and Antonio Plasencia Borja, director of the Post Office in the municipality.
The ‘Coral Sentimento’ sang the Hymn of Andalusia and the popular migas; hundreds of kilos of migas, beans and wine of the country that have made the delights of the attendees in a crowded day, where they have boasted of being Andalusian.
