Almeria Provincial Council recognises the participants in the Disability and Sport project
The Deputy of Sports and Youth has handed over the cheques to the first classified for their participation in the Almeria Play Fair Cohesion Programme.

More than twenty associations, clubs and sports centres from all over the province took part in the prize-giving ceremony held at the Moisés Ruiz stadium. The Deputy for Sports and Youth, José Antonio García, presented the cheques with money for sports equipment to the CP Los Carriles (first place), CDO Javier Peña (second place) and the ‘Virgen del Socorro’ Residence (third place).

The prizes awarded by the Provincial Council and belonging to the Disability and Sport project, are part of the Almeria Fair Play Cohesion Programme and constitute a complementary service to promote healthy and specific sports practice for the group of people with intellectual disabilities.

The Deputy for Sports, José Antonio García, stressed that «this is the result of the work of the Sports Department of the Provincial Council that meets the objective of promoting sports and healthy lifestyle habits to people with disabilities in the province of Almeria, promoting equal opportunities and the role of sport as a powerful tool for social inclusion for all».

In his speech, García Alcaina, has expressed the importance of continuing to work on this programme that comes to equal opportunities: «in addition, we have delivered a pickeball kit consisting of a net, paddles and several balls. We will expand the number of sports that are practised so that everyone knows about the wide variety of activities that we promote from the Provincial Council».

The associations participating in the Disability and Sport Project of the Almeria Fair Play Cohesion Programme are: CO Asprodalba (Vera), CD San Marcos (Macael), Apafa (Vélez-Rubio), IES Azcona (Almería), CDO – CDPD ‘El Saliente’ (Albox), CO Juan Goytisolo ‘Verdiblanca’ (Almería), RGA Francisco Pérez Miras (Albox), A toda Vela (Almería), Asociación de Personas con Discapacidad La Esperanza de Pulpí (Pulpí), CO Arte 21 Asalsido (Almería), CO Virgen del Río – FAAM (Huércal Overa), Altea (Huércal de Almería), CEEEP Princesa Sofía (Almería), Asociación Activa tu Ocio y Di Capacitados (El Ejido), Atención Autismo Almería (Almería), CO Asprodesa (El Ejido), Asociación Down El Ejido (El Ejido), CEC Down Almería (Almería), Residencia ‘Virgen del Socorro’ (Tíjola), RGA FAAM (Almería), CO Aspapros (Almería – Huércal de Almería – Viator), CDO Javier Peña (Almería) and CP Los Carriles (Macael).
