Education invests 177,000 euros in improvements to Martín García Ramos Secondary School in AlboxThe delegate for Educational Development and Vocational Training, Francisco Alonso Martínez, together with the mayor of the municipality, Francisco Torrecillas Sánchez, visited the Martín García Ramos Secondary School in Albox to inaugurate the Ateca Classroom (Applied Technology Classrooms) and to check the state of completion of the works carried out at the centre. The event, which was conducted by the school principal, Encarna Castillo Vizcaíno, was attended by the management team, the heads of the VET departments and two representatives of the AMPA.

The remodelling work on the building consisted of underpinning work due to the pathological state of the building, which has solved the defects it presented. In relation to this action the educational delegate has stated that “the deficiencies observed in the building have now been resolved so that, once again, the Albox secondary school can guarantee the educational quality of its students”. “It is of the utmost necessity to resolve the infrastructure problems that some institutes and schools have”, so “we will work constantly and effectively to respond to all the educational centres in the municipalities of Almeria”.

Alonso also inaugurated the Ateca Classroom where he declared that “digitalisation is one of the key objectives pursued by the Regional Ministry to complement the training of our students”, for this reason, “we are providing schools with digital resources and new technologies, as well as training for teachers, so that they have the necessary tools to implement projects such as the AtecA Classroom”. “The present and future of our students is closely related to IT and digital platforms”, which is why Alonso applauded this type of initiative “that brings our students closer to the IT business sector and opens doors to the world of work”. He also highlighted the investment that the Regional Ministry has made in equipping the AtecA classroom, which has led to the incorporation of digitalisation, innovation and entrepreneurship for the modernisation of the Vocational Training system.

This classroom has been equipped with the latest technology that will improve the training of existing training cycles in the centre and other future ones, such as the CFGS Automotive Technician, allowing its students to be a more powerful asset for companies in the regions of Almanzora, Los Vélez, El Levante Almeriense and Los Filabres, which are within its area of influence.

The classroom consists of a 3D scanner, 3D resin, PLA and even carbon fibre printers, 3D design software, virtual reality glasses, an iPad Pro with Lidar technology, as well as high-capacity computers, tablets, digital whiteboards, audio and sound equipment, sports cameras, 360º webcam, a chroma key kit, plotter, or vinyl cutting plotter, among others.

This equipment allows the students to carry out reverse engineering work, manufacture and design of prototypes, models, marketing, among many others, which will strengthen the students’ entrepreneurship and allow them to generate greater synergies with the business fabric to which the centre responds. Undoubtedly, the centre’s management is committed to quality, avant-garde and forward-looking training that will make the region more competitive.

During his visit to the town, Alonso also visited the CEIP Virgen del Saliente and Velázquez. In the latter, the delegate visited the multi-sensory classroom, a space designed so that children with disabilities can interact with the environment by stimulating their senses.
