On Saturday 25th March, Solemnity of the Incarnation of the Lord, the Liturgical Coronation of Our Lady of Hope took place, coinciding with the 17th anniversary of the Blessing of the Sacred Image.
In the Parish Church of Santa María, also coinciding with the last day of the Lenten Triduum of the Paso Blanco, the blessing and imposition of the presege took place. The piece, donated by brother Domingo Jiménez Galera, was hand-chiselled and gold-plated in the city of Seville.
For the occasion, the image was placed on an elegant altar of worship, dressed by Manuel Jesús Sánchez Reche, who was also in charge of the floral decoration. She wore a new gold brocade gown in bougainvillea, duchess lace and matching handkerchief, both from the 19th century, and a gold and silver dagger.
On her chest she wore the «anchor of the devotees» paid for with the donations that spontaneously began to be left by the devotees in the chapel of the Virgin and which motivated the Brotherhood to place a petition urn and destine the proceeds to the trousseau of Our Lady.
While the Parish Choir of Santa María sang the Ave María, the Reverend Antonio José Villegas Romero blessed and imposed the crown on Our Mother of Hope, drawing a great applause from those present.
