In Almería, the landfills at Instinción, Paterna del Río and Tabernas will also be sealed.

The Andalusian MP for the Partido Popular of Almería, Juan José Salvador, has highlighted the commitment of Juanma Moreno’s government to the circular economy with the sealing of five waste dumps in the province, specifically in the municipalities of Bayarque, Instinción, Olula del Río, Paterna del Río and Tabernas. These actions are part of the 10 million euros that the Regional Ministry of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy is going to invest to seal a total of seven landfills in Andalusia.

This decision demonstrates that Andalusia has a roadmap to be more sustainable, to implement the circular economy and to avoid new sanctions from Europe as happened during the years of Socialist governments in the Junta, which led to the opening of numerous sanctioning proceedings for not complying with EU legislation.

Juan José Salvador explained that thanks to the process of sealing waste dumps, on the one hand, the possible contamination of the environment is avoided through the definitive isolation of the waste, preventing the infiltration of polluting liquid effluents into the soil and water; and on the other hand, the recovery of the degraded space and its subsequent use for other purposes is guaranteed.

For the PP MP, it is essential to protect the environment and the safety of people, and this initiative, in addition to achieving this, also aims to restore the landscape around these dumps.

Juan José Salvador has denounced the “false environmentalism of the PSOE in its almost 40 years of government in the Junta” covering its eyes without worrying about the environment and much less about the sealing of urban waste dumps.

In contrast to the neglect, indifference and few investments carried out by the Socialist Party in this area, Juan José Salvador has pointed out that “nobody today doubts the commitment of the Minister Ramón Fernández-Pacheco to the environment”, a commitment that is clear if we take into account that throughout this legislature a dozen more landfills will be sealed in our community (to which must be added the seven previously announced) and that only in this 2023 will be invested in projects associated with the circular economy and waste management almost 43 million.
