The Community de Murcia calls for tenders for the rehabilitation of the Los Beatos regional road to improve service quality
The work on this road through Cartagena will increase safety and is included in the ‘aCTus’ programme with 195,000 euros.

The Community is developing the ‘aCTus’ programme for the improvement of the regional road network with the comprehensive rehabilitation of the road surface on the Los Beatos road linking Cartagena with the Los Camachos industrial estate (RM-F39). This work, which is currently out to tender, will improve the quality of the public service and improve the safety of the more than 167,000 vehicles that travel along the road each year.

The Director General of Roads, María Casajús, announced that this action, part of the regional strategy ‘Closer’ «will benefit not only the citizens who use this road to access Cartagena and the industrial areas of Los Camachos and Cabezo Beaza, but will also have a positive impact on the residents of La Unión who use this road to reach the port city from the road that connects to Roche».

He explained that the work, which has been allocated 195,055 euros, covers more than one kilometre of road, just the section that runs parallel to the A-30 motorway, and will consist of «the rehabilitation of the road surface with a paving that is more resistant to continuous vehicle traffic and which will regularise the unevenness of the roadway to improve driving and traffic flow».

The work also includes the reconstruction of the transversal drainage works to reduce possible water puddles caused by episodes of rain, with the installation of two 800-millimetre diameter pipes, as well as the cleaning and concreting of ditches to evacuate rainwater runoff from the road. The project includes the renovation of the horizontal and vertical signage.

Improvement of the Roche road

The director general also reported the start of work on an action that will facilitate the incorporation to the RM-F39 of the residents of both Cartagena and La Unión via the Roche road (RM-F41), making this road safer by means of an action that will prevent water accumulation and allow the geometry of the road to be recovered.

To this end, the hard shoulder on the right-hand side of the road will be milled in order to achieve a sufficient camber so that water from rainfall can run off along the same surface. The road markings will also be repainted and the necessary horizontal and vertical signalling will be carried out to change the traffic priority at the intersection with the road leading to Escombreras, including vertical and horizontal signalling.
