
The Community of Murcia will invest 497,234.46 euros in the first phase of the new fire station in San Pedro del Pinatar. The project consists of the execution of the construction of a hangar for the parking of fire fighting vehicles, fencing and development of the plot.
This was announced this Monday by the Regional Minister for the Environment, Mar Menor, Universities and Research, Juan María Vázquez, during his visit to the site which will house the new Fire Extinguishing Consortium (CEIS) park in San Pedro del Pinatar, according to sources from the Community in a press release.
«The site is located in the peripheral area of the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar, at kilometre 31 of the N-332 road, where communications will allow faster travel,» said the minister.

The site is rectangular in shape, with a floor area of 4,309.71 square metres. The changing room for the firefighters and the equipment cleaning area will have a surface area of 73.32 square metres.
«The garage, which has an area of 529.83 square metres, has been designed for five vehicles, with the possibility of extending it for one more space in the future if necessary,» added Vázquez.
The Fire Station will be of a local type, as the equipment in the existing station will be transferred. Currently, the 24-hour on-call staff is made up of 15 people – five corporals and ten firefighter-drivers – divided into shifts, with a corporal and two firefighter-drivers on duty every day. The direct line manager is the chief sergeant.
