On 19 and 20 May, the Provincial Sports Games put the finishing touch to their 32nd edition with the Indoor Football and the celebration of matches that rewarded the different categories that, since January, have been waiting for this moment.

There have been 3,274 athletes, divided into 200 teams, belonging to the different municipalities of the provincial geography who have participated in a season marked by the recovery of full normality and a high participation that lead us to the improvement of the pre-pandemic figures.

“We are very satisfied with the happiness that the JDPs provide among the participating athletes and, by extension, to their parents who live from the stands the emotions of their sons and daughters. Seeing their smiles and overflowing emotions when they receive the award and recognition for their effort and attitude is something they will surely never forget”, said the Deputy Delegate for Sports and Youth, José Antonio García Alcaina, who presided over the event together with all the children who received their medals and trophies.

The great celebration of sport at school age in the province of Almeria, was spread over two sports facilities in the province of Almeria (Moises Ruiz Pavilion – Almeria / Fernando Navarrete Pavilion – Villa de Fines), with a significant participation of athletes and their families.

This puts the finishing touch to a season full of sporting events that are close to 1,000 games, divided between the modalities of multisport, basketball, indoor football and volleyball, being the calendar in which the final days of each of them have taken place.

During the course of these days and their different modalities, it has been possible to count on the presence of different municipal personalities (Mayors and Councillors), as well as federated officials (Delegates of Andalusian Sports Federations).

José Antonio García Alcaína underlined “the need and importance of all the parties involved in the progress of the Provincial Sports Games and this content of the Educational Sports Promotion Leagues, to adjust our objectives in order to favour the harmonious and integral development of the boys and girls of our province”.

He also thanked Cajamar for its ongoing support and private initiative for the Provincial Sports Games project of the Almeria Provincial Council.
