The rain has caused around 40 incidents this Monday afternoon in the province of Almeria, according to Emergencies 112 Andalusia, a service attached to the Ministry of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Junta.

Between 15:00 and 21:00 hours, the 112 telephone has received incidents from different parts of the province, such as Nijar, El Ejido, Purchena, Albox, Carboneras, Huércal-Overa, Los Gallardos, Cuevas de Almanzora, Garrucha, Vera, Zurgena, as well as in Almería capital.

Most of the incidents have been due to water pools on the roadway recorded on different roads in the province such as the Retamar road, the AL-3106 (Níjar), the AL-5106 (Carboneras), the A-1101 (Zurgena) and landslides on the AL-3115 (Níjar) and the AL-6101 (Purchena). On the AL-6112 in Carboneras, the Guardia Civil reported that the road has been cut at kilometre 2 due to the outflow of a watercourse.

There have also been reports of flooding in homes, mainly in the municipality of Vera, where five people, three adults and two children, have been evacuated from a farmhouse located in El Real de Vera. According to Civil Protection, the water reached knee height and they have gone to another house on their property. No injuries have been reported. Also in Vera some warnings have been coordinated for vehicles stuck on the road due to water.

112 has also received warnings for occasional flooding in basements and courtyards in other municipalities such as Albox, El Ejido and in Cuevas de Almanzora, where at the last minute several incidents have begun to be received for this reason in this municipality. In Almería city, a warning was coordinated in the La Mezquita industrial estate due to flooding in several warehouses, although the intervention of the fire brigade was not necessary. In addition, at around 15:00 hours the fire brigade acted in the Almadraba de Monteleva area where there had been some flooding.

The coordination centre also attended to a number of traffic accidents caused by the rain. In the city of Almeria, a postman was injured after falling while driving along Avenida Cabo de Gata when he collided with a manhole overflowing due to the rain. He was evacuated by the medical services to Torrecárdenas Hospital.

In Tíjola, a car went off the road and fell into a ravine, an incident in which two people were injured, a young woman aged 18 and a man aged 57, who were evacuated to Baza hospital.

In Cuevas de Almanzora, firefighters have located a man who had not been heard from since the morning on the beach of Quitapellejos, in Villaricos. The man was inside his vehicle trapped in a muddy area. The man was in good condition and did not require medical assistance.
