Almeria's SMEs and the self-employed to receive aid for safety at work
The incentives, of between 1,200 and 15,000 euros, cover up to 75% of the purchase of machinery, safety equipment or protection systems and can be applied for until 26 June.

The Regional Ministry of Employment, Enterprise and Self-Employment has opened the deadline for Andalusian SMEs (companies with up to 250 employees) and self-employed workers to apply for grants to carry out projects and investments in occupational risk prevention, following yesterday’s publication of the call for these subsidies in the BOJA (Official Gazette of Andalusia).

In this new edition of the programme, the Regional Ministry allocates 3.96 million euros for subsidies on a competitive basis, which will benefit more than 400 companies and self-employed workers with at least one employee. The province of Almeria will receive 392,877.30 euros (331,318.80 will be part of line 1 and 59,558.50 of line 2).

The application period for these grants will be extended until 26 June, and applications must be registered telematically, through the Virtual Office of the Regional Ministry of Employment, Enterprise and Self-Employment available at http://lajunta.es/3gx20 .

The incentives, of between 1,200 and 15,000 euros, may cover up to 75% of the investments made by the companies and will be used to finance two lines of aid. On the one hand, grants of 1,500 to 15,000 euros are established to finance activities and projects that include investments aimed at incorporating preventive improvement measures in companies, such as the replacement of old machinery in the workplace; the incorporation of specific installations for the control of chemical, physical or biological pollutants; safety adaptations of work equipment and machinery; or the acquisition of intelligent systems for the active control of the protection of workers, among others.

On the other hand, a second grant of 1,200 to 12,000 euros is established for initiatives and projects to improve the integration of prevention in companies, which facilitate compliance with regulations, as well as the implementation of innovative projects and good preventive practices. This section includes training plans, ergonomic and psychosocial studies, R&D&I projects aimed at improving working conditions, preventive diagnoses of emerging risks and first implementations of occupational health and safety management systems.

For this call, priority will be given to projects or initiatives aimed at: the implementation for the first time of a preventive modality with own resources in ORP; the implementation of collective measures for the protection against the risk of falls from heights for work on fragile surfaces, including permanent greenhouses; projects for the implementation of protective measures against the risk of exposure to silica and other carcinogenic, mutagenic and teratogenic agents; projects for the implementation of measures for the elimination and/or reduction of risks linked to occupational asthma; projects to improve ventilation and/or localised extraction in workshops or refuelling areas with a risk of exposure to diesel vapours; projects for the implementation of measures to eliminate or reduce the risk of exposure to noise in metal carpentry and the manufacture of metal structures; or specific preventive training additional or complementary to that required by the standard.

SMEs, including the self-employed, which, having had an average workforce of more than one employee in the previous year, carry out projects and investments in occupational risk prevention in workplaces located in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, may apply for this aid.
