The Governing Board of the Provincial Council of Almeria this morning approved the award of the works for the refurbishment and extension of the Municipal Residence for the elderly in Armuña de Almanzora. Thanks to these works, the facilities will have more rooms and services and, in addition, the capacity of the Municipal Residence will be increased by up to 10 places, for a total of 18.
The Provincial Institution has allocated a budget of more than 850,000 euros for this project. The residence was opened in 2006 on a plot of urban land with a total surface area of 479.40 m2, occupying 203.20 m2 of building. It is located in Miguel Hernández street, in the centre of the municipality, and currently has only 8 places available with four double bedrooms.
The project specifies that the works «provide an adequate and modern response to the needs of both the town and the immediate surroundings, in a region with a growing demand for care services and assisted geriatric care».
The building will see the entrance area modified to incorporate an access staircase to the first floor with a control post underneath it, the kitchen will be enlarged and the dining area and living room will be reformed to create a corridor that communicates with the extension area that will be carried out both on the building and on part of the unbuilt plot of the original site.
On the ground floor, therefore, the bedroom area is not modified and only the rest is reformed internally to a greater or lesser extent. The day area is extended in order to comply with the regulatory standards, both kitchen and dining room as well as a new living room, visitors’ room, necessary offices and chair lift at the end of the corridor together with a new hall, second staircase and access from the outside.
On the upper floor there is a hall, management room, office, infirmary with capacity for 2 beds with adapted bathroom, 4 double bedrooms with adapted bathroom, 2 single bedrooms with adapted bathroom, hall, bathroom and dressing room separated by sexes and for the service of the residence, specialised care area 1, and second stairwell next to the new ground floor access, which communicates the same with the first floor and the second floor, which in turn consists of entrance hall, linen room, specialised care area 2, laundry, access to terrace and clothes hanging area.
After the project, the total built area will be 709 m2 and the total usable area of the three floors will be 632 m2. For the materialisation of the project, demolition works, land conditioning, foundations, sanitation, structure, masonry, roofing, lighting installations, plumbing, air conditioning…, insulation, cladding, carpentry, glazing and painting will be carried out.
