Postal voting for the General Election on 23 July can now be requested online
Applications can be made online until 13 July on the Correos website.

It is now possible to apply online to vote by post for the General Elections to be held on Sunday, 23 July 2023.

Voters who decide to vote by post can apply for the Certificate of registration in the corresponding Electoral Roll until 13 July (inclusive). Obtaining this certificate is an essential requirement in order to be able to cast a postal vote and can be requested online via the website www.correos.es or in person at any Post Office in Spain.

Online application for postal voting

Voters can request their vote via the Correos website (www.correos.es), without having to go to a post office in person. In this application form, which avoids travelling, the interested party must prove their identity by means of an electronic signature, and the certificates of natural persons recognised by the Ministry of Industry and the electronic DNI (DNI-e) are accepted as valid identification systems.

Application for postal voting in offices

Postal voting applications may be made at any post office in Spain. This request must be made in person by each voter, except in the case of illness or disability – accredited by official medical certification – that prevents the voter from making the request in person. In this case, it may be presented on behalf of the voter by another person authorised by notary or consular authority.

At the time of making the request, the interested parties must prove their identity by presenting the original DNI, passport or driving licence to the post office employee.

With the aim of speeding up the procedures and avoiding waiting times, the company offers the option of making an appointment in advance to request a vote at the post office, through the app, the Correos website or the Virtual Office. To do this, voters simply select the available office that has an appointment and, finally, choose the day and time that best suits them.

Correos will deliver the applications received to the Provincial Delegations of the Electoral Census Office, who will send applicants, from 3 July onwards, the necessary documentation to enable them to vote by post.

Those applying for postal voting are reminded that the documentation will be sent to the address indicated on the application form, which does not necessarily have to coincide with their usual address.

The deadline for submitting postal votes is 19 July 2023.
