The Tomás Maestre Marina, in La Manga del Mar Menor, will celebrate the second edition of the Sail Week Festival Marina Day 2023, on 9 and 10 June with an extensive programme of free activities open to the public. The programme includes shows and live music, free boat rides, water inflatables, exhibitions, raffles and workshops, among others such as a «Ruta de la Tapa» (Tapas Route) in the port premises. The event, organised by the Port with the collaboration of the San Javier Town Council, through the departments of Tourism and Culture, includes the II Marina Day Nautical Fair which on the 9th of June will feature charter companies and nautical schools and on the 10th of June with boatyards, brokers and nautical accessories.
The Councillor for Culture, David Martinez, the president of the Port Tomás Maestre, Mari Carmen Campo and the coordinator of events and public relations, Tomi Gacía, presented today at the City Hall of San Javier, the Sail Week Festival which has among its objectives «to promote awareness of the need to protect our seas and oceans and to recognize the work of people who are dedicated to this task,» said the president of the Port. Mari Carmen Campo, highlighted the tribute to be paid to the State Security Forces as well as to the emergency services and the Plataforma Pacto por el Mar Menor, for their service to society, in a ceremony which will take place on 10th June at 11:00h. Councillor David Martínez underlined the opportunity of Marina Day to open the doors and publicise the tourist attractions of La Manga and specifically the port and invited people to visit the facilities and enjoy the programme of activities prepared.
On Friday 9th, the day of the Region of Murcia, at 10am the machinery of activities will start up and will not stop until the early hours of the morning, as will be the case on Saturday 10th June, with the celebration of the international Marina Day. On both days there will be water activities such as paddle surfing and kayaking, water inflatables, boat trips and visitors will be able to visit the Nautical Fair and a car exhibition. At midday there will be paella tastings on Friday and a sardinada on Saturday, as well as the Ruta de la Tapa. Snorkelling, children’s workshops, a children’s fishing competition, a radio-controlled regatta, zumba dance and shows such as the magician Ximo Ilusionista on 9th June, followed by the show «Murcianicos por el Mundo», or the concert of «El sitio de mi recreo» on Saturday 10th June, will mark the activity of the afternoons and evenings.
