94.37% of families in Almeria obtain a place in their first choice school
25.28% of the places offered for three-year-olds entering the education system for the first time have remained vacant.

94.37% of the families in Almeria who participated in the schooling process that began last March obtained a place for their children in the centre chosen as their first option, while 98.22% obtained a place in one of the preferred centres. In the 2019-20 academic year, the percentage of families who obtained a place in their first choice school was 93.35%.

The Regional Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training has received a total of 6,266 applications for 3-year old Infant Education students who are joining the Andalusian education system for the first time. Of these, 5,913 correspond to pupils admitted to centres requested in first option, i.e. 94.37%. Of the three-year old places offered, 25.28% have remained vacant.

All children entering the education system for the 2nd Cycle of Infant, Primary, Special Education, Secondary and Baccalaureate, both in public and state-subsidised schools, as well as pupils who change schools, participate in this schooling procedure for the 2nd Cycle of Infant, Primary, Special Education, Secondary and Baccalaureate. The allocation of school places to students is one of the most important annual procedures carried out by the Administration, not only because of its volume, but also because of the importance it has for families.

On the other hand, the draw held on 15 May, which resulted in the number 0.6465, resolved 533 tie situations after the application of the scale in the admission applications corresponding to the schooling procedure for the 2023/24 academic year in Andalusian public and state-subsidised schools. In the last academic year there were 548 tie situations, while in the 2018-19 academic year there were 1,648.

This draw is only applicable when the number of applications for admission exceeds the number of school places available and when, after applying the criteria of the scale, there is a tie situation.
