The Provincial Council of Almeria has approved the contracting dossiers for three works for the improvement of provincial roads in the regions of Nacimiento, Filabres – Alhamilla and Levante – Almanzora.
Specifically, the Governing Board has approved three actions that will involve an investment of 600,000 € for the improvement of the Provincial Road Network that supports the road communication of the 103 municipalities.
In the case of the Filabres-Alhamilla region, the project is the rehabilitation of the road surface in the CP AL-4406 ‘From the A-1178 in Gérgal to the AL-3102 through Olula de Castro and Castro de Filabres with a budget of 150,000 euros under the Road Plan 2023.
Currently this road is not in an optimal state of conservation and has a very deteriorated road surface and a reduced roadbed which causes difficulties for traffic and road safety. In order to improve this road and adapt it to vehicle traffic, the road surface is to be rehabilitated.
The work consists of two sections of road surface reinforcement, 1,500 metres long (KP 0+600 to KP 2+100), 7.50 metres wide and 1,300 metres long (KP 6+300 to KP 7+600), 7.90 metres wide.
On the other hand, in the region of Nacimiento, improvements will be made to the AL-5404 road ‘From Abla to the provincial boundary with Granada with a branch road to Escular’ with a base budget of 250,000 euros.
The work will consist of the execution of two sections of road surface reinforcement totalling 3,500 metres in length with the following characteristics:
Section 1: 2,800 metres in length (KP 17+700 to KP 20+500), 6.20 metres long.
Section 2: 700 metres long (KP 0+000 to KP 0+700 access to Escullar), 7.60 metres wide.
In addition, several sections of repair of existing ruts will also be carried out in order to recover the original structure of the road. Several sections of kerbing are also planned to channel runoff water and prevent damage to the road embankments, as well as painting for the road’s horizontal signposting.
Finally, in the Levante Almanzora area, the road surface on the AL-7101 ‘De Albox a la A-327 en Huércal-Overa por Taberno’ road will be rehabilitated, with a base budget of 200,000 euros.
The work will consist of the execution of two sections totalling 3.1 kilometres in length, as well as the marking of the road with a semi-rigid barrier with double sinus.
Antonio J. Rodríguez indicated that the three projects are part of the Provincial Road Network Investment Plan to maintain the Provincial Road Network in optimum condition.
