The San Javier Town Hall has intensified the fight against mosquitoes to counteract their proliferation after the rains of the last few days, which is favoured by the current warm temperatures. The company awarded the pest control service has focused these days in the fight against mosquitoes by larvicide treatments, repeatedly, and also adulticides.
The work has largely focused on the Veneziola area in La Manga del Mar Menor, which is the most affected, although there is a flood zone in that area whose environmental protection prohibits adulticide treatment.
The Department of Health reminds us that in addition to these natural areas there are many possible outbreaks that could be avoided by taking action against stagnant water on private property where public services do not have legal access. Therefore, they advise to take precautions in this regard, for example by checking covered swimming pools, drums, flower pots or any other container that can be found in gardens and where hundreds of larvae of the annoying insect can breed.
