The delegate of Justice, Local Administration and Public Function, Carmen Navarro, has made a technical visit to the municipality of Zurgena, accompanied by its mayor, Domingo Trabalón, to check the progress of the works under the Plan de Fomento del Empleo Agrario, PFEA. The Junta de Andalucía has provided the funds for the purchase of materials.
Carmen Navarro stressed «the importance of this employment plan for municipalities with fewer inhabitants in the province, as it serves to attract new resources and fix the population». On this occasion, a number of different actions are being carried out. The delegate visited the environmental maintenance works, for which the Junta allocated a total of 4,350 euros in the PFEA of 2022 and which are still being carried out. She has also known the situation of the improvement works to be carried out in the Civil Guard barracks with the reform and electrical installation, the change of the exterior lights, the pruning of interior green areas and the painting of official premises, as well as the conditioning of the Ginés Parra Interpretation Centre which will be carried out within the works of the PFEA 2023. These works will cost 56,000 euros.
The delegate of Local Administration explained that «this Plan promotes investment, employment and the improvement of public infrastructures that affect the welfare of all citizens». She also highlighted the fluid institutional collaboration with the rest of the administrations that makes this initiative possible.
The Mayor of Zurgena, Domingo Trabalón, highlighted the importance of these works, which represent a major investment for the town. He added that «it is necessary to focus on improving the public spaces of the council to attract more visitors, and that the refurbishment of the Ginés Parra Interpretation Centre will be a boost for tourism in the town».
The Plan de Fomento de Empleo Agrario, PFEA, is a programme with a dual function: to improve employment in the localities, and at the same time bid for projects that make the municipalities more livable places, through the implementation of programmes aimed at unemployed workers, preferably agricultural casuals, through grants to local corporations.
