A ferry and a sea taxi service will once again link Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga del Mar Menor.

The Councillor for Tourism, Estíbaliz Masegosa presents this new service which operates daily with a long timetable and which will have a special service for the summer festivals in San Javier.

The councillor for Tourism, Estíbaliz Masegosa presented the new maritime transport service between Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga del Mar Menor, which since last week has been offered by the company Cruceros Mar Menor with a ferry, and the company Chapitaxi, with two fast boats. Masegosa stressed the “need” to have this service “which responds both to the tourism sector by improving the experience in the tourist destination, and to the demand of the residents themselves for this connection between the two tourist districts, which also improves their quality of life”.

The service offered by Chapitaxi consists of two speed boats with capacity for 14 people that cover the daily route between the jetty of Santiago de la Ribera (next to Miramar restaurant) to the port Tomás Maestre, in La Manga del Mar Menor. The head of the company, Niurka Baños, informed that from next week the timetable will be extended with a first departure at 10:00 which will be repeated every 40 minutes.

The last service from La Manga del Mar Menor will depart at 21:45h. The price per journey is €6.50 and children under 4 years old are free. Tickets can be purchased at www.chapitaxi.com where detailed timetables are also available. Niurka Baños, who used to work for the company that managed the ferry, which for internal reasons has ceased to operate, announced a possible return of the company despite which the taxi service would be maintained, which is intended to be extended with more boats and stops on the coast of the Mar Menor, operating like a bus.
