From the marble to the beach with a stop in several villages of the Almanzora region

The service became operational on 1 July and will run until 31 August.

The Regional Ministry of Development, Infrastructures and Territorial Planning, through the Directorate General of Mobility and the Metropolitan Transport Consortium of the Almeria Area, is launching the fifth Summer Coastal Transport Programme during the months of July and August. This is an initiative that seeks to improve the connection with the beaches of our territory and fight against the isolation of some small municipalities far from the coast, improve the quality of life of inland citizens and encourage the use of public transport by reducing dependence on private vehicles.

New this year, the Territorial Delegation of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Mobility and Transport, is implementing two new routes on weekends and public holidays. One of them, the one that links the Almanzora with the Levante, starting in Macael, passing through the municipalities of Olula del Río, Fines, Albox, Arboleas, Zurgena, Venta Overa, Huercal Overa and Pulpí with final destination in San Juan de los Terreros.

This initiative has been well received by the local residents who until now have not had a public service that allows them to travel from the Almanzora region to the beaches of San Juan de los Terreros.

For the Delegate of Development, Carmen Belén López, consulted by La Comarca Noticias, “from the government of the Junta we try to offer services that in this summer time the neighbours can access to enjoy a day at the beach. It is for anyone who wants to use it, with accessible departure and arrival times”.

The price varies according to the kilometric rate of the concession depending on the origin of the journey. As an example, a resident of Albox will pay 4 euros per trip to Terreros. The ticket can be purchased on the bus itself.

The journey starts at 8.50am in Macael and the departure from San Juan de los Terreros is scheduled for 7pm.
