Work to clean up the Albox watercourse has begun.

The works had been authorised for three years.

The work to clean up the Albox wadi as it passes through the town centre began on Wednesday, and it is hoped that this first phase will be completed in the short term, “which will allow the residents to make use of a site that was in a bad state and abandoned, despite having the corresponding authorisations from the Junta de Andalucía”, said the mayoress of Albox, María del Mar Alfonso, in an interview with La Comarca Noticias.

“The project that we are going to execute is the one that was pending, so we have had to restart a contract that had expired on 31 May. I don’t know the reasons why the works were not carried out, but it is our duty to do so, as the area is in a deplorable state, inaccessible and unsafe”.

“This is the first of the actions that we will carry out in the rambla, with a view to making it a place for the use and enjoyment of the residents, and whose project we have been campaigning for”, assures the mayor of Albox.

The company that is carrying out the work on the “Laying of artificial gravel and construction of a ditch for water run-off in the Albox wadi” is Aguaema SL. The execution period is two months and the cost of the work is 35,592.15 euros.
