San Javier Town Council reinforces health care during the summer in La Manga del Mar Menor

The Town Hall has taken on the rental of two premises to reinforce primary care in the northern area of La Manga and another as the headquarters of the ambulance service at km 12 of the Gran Vía.

The City Council of San Javier has made available to the Murcia Health Service two premises in La Manga del Mar Menor, one of them to house a medical office in the northern area and the other, in Puerto Playa, as the headquarters of the ambulance service in La Manga. The councillor for Health, María José Bernal, accompanied by the mayor of La Manga, José Guerrero and the president of the local residents’ association, Joaquín Carasco, visited both facilities “which the San Javier Town Hall is renting with the aim of improving and extending health services due to the increase in population that occurs during the summer in La Manga”.

María José Bernal explained that in order to set up the medical clinic, which is located in Residencial Veneciola Azul, the Town Hall has coordinated with the Cartagena Area II Health Department, which is responsible for providing primary health care services. The clinic, which complements the service provided by the La Manga Health Centre, will open its doors next week and will remain open until 29th September. Medical and nursing assistance will operate on Wednesdays and Fridays from 09:00 to 15:00h. In addition, on Mondays, nursing services will be provided during the same hours.

The ambulance service is also reinforced, with a service located in Urbanización Puerto y Playa, at km 12 of La Manga. María José Bernal explained that the Town Hall, in coordination with the 061 Management of the Murcian Health Service has set up this service, assuming the cost of renting premises, which serves as a base for the rest of the ambulance staff in order to manage the emergency service 24 hours a day. This service has an ambulance type (SVAE) advanced life support nursing that expedites health interventions in the northern area of La Manga during 24 hours. The ambulance service started on 1st July and will remain open until 31st August.
