Once again this year, the people of Purchena have paid tribute to their patron saint, the Virgen del Carmen, with the celebration of a festival organised by the Purchena Town Hall, in which music has been the main attraction for residents from all over the Almanzora region. Orchestras, local music groups and the School of Dance have given a plus to the municipality, which concluded with the traditional mass and procession accompanied by the Musical Association of La Esperanza.
The first deputy mayor, Joaquín Navío, stressed that «the purcheneros have once again demonstrated the love they have for their town. The union of all the neighbours, the parish of San Ginés led by Father Antonio Manuel and the Purchena Town Council, has been key to making these fiestas a success. From today we are working to ensure that those of our patron saint, which are held at the end of August, are even better and bring to an end a summer full of fun».
For his part, the councillor for Festivities, Isidro Pedrosa, emphasised the support he has had from the local residents in organising his first fiestas; «the mayor set me the objective that everything should go perfectly in what are the first fiestas since the change of government in the Town Hall. All the councillors have worked hard to make sure that it went as expected, and the results have helped us to continue to improve the fiestas of San Ginés».
