The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed an investigation in San Pedro del Pinatar to clarify a case of running over a cyclist and other damage to a vehicle, which has resulted in the investigation of two residents of the municipality to which they have been instructed proceedings as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of injury and simulation of crime, also verifying the non-existence of the crime of damage reported by the now investigated.
The events took place at the end of June, when two women filed a complaint for alleged damage caused to the vehicle of one of them by a cyclist, according to sources from the Benemérita in a statement.
The complainants, who have a family relationship, stated that, while one of them was driving along a street in the municipality and the owner of the vehicle was a passenger, an acquaintance of both of them who was riding a bicycle quickly and aggressively attacked the vehicle and caused various damages to the bodywork of the car, and was unable to avoid him.
During the technical inspection carried out by the civil guards on the allegedly damaged vehicle, the complainants corroborated their statement, describing the facts again and pointing out in detail the damage caused to their vehicle by the cyclist.
On the same morning as the complaint for damage to the vehicle, another resident of San Pedro del Pinatar lodged a complaint for injuries allegedly caused after being run over by a vehicle while riding his bicycle.
In this case, the complainant stated that while riding his bicycle along a street in the municipality of Pinatar, he was intentionally hit by a vehicle occupied by two women members of a family with whom he has some quarrels.
The cyclist stated that he could see the vehicle coming towards him at high speed and had time to jump off the bicycle to avoid being completely run over, but that he sustained injuries to his leg.
In view of both versions, the Benemérita’s Citizen Security Prevention officers opened the corresponding investigation to verify all the criminal acts reported and, if necessary, to clarify them.
Thanks to the collaboration of citizens and the investigations carried out, the Civil Guards were able to verify that when the driver of the vehicle saw the man on the bicycle, she drove towards him, invading the cyclist’s lane and running him over, an action that caused injuries to the cyclist and damage to the car, so, after obtaining all the necessary evidence, the Civil Guard investigated both occupants of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle has been prosecuted as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of injury and simulation of crime and the occupant and owner of the vehicle as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of simulation of crime.
The investigated, along with the proceedings, have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction of San Javier (Murcia).
