The ‘Sabores de Almería’ brand continues to expand in the ‘Los Vélez’ region. This was confirmed by the Deputy for Agri-Food Promotion, Carlos Sánchez, who visited the facilities of four of the latest companies to join the Provincial Institution’s quality seal:
– Industrias Cárnicas Sierra de María
– Montesur Dryers
– Sierra María Ecohuevos
– Hams and Sausages Torrente
Specifically, these four companies are based in the municipality of María, which is the leader of the quality seal in terms of the number of member companies in the whole region. In addition to these companies, Los Vélez is also home to ‘Bodegas Palomillo’ and ‘Miguel Oliver’ hams and sausages.
The deputy highlighted the importance of the ‘Sabores Almería’ brand in promoting the creation of opportunities in the rural world: “From the Diputación de Almería we strongly support those companies that produce quality, flavour and health and we encourage others to join our gourmet quality seal. This initiative is a way of settling the population, creating opportunities and is a platform for promoting the province’s products,” he stressed.
He also thanked the mayors, such as the Mayor of María, for the advice they provide to companies to join the gourmet brand: “Thank you for working with us to promote and open up new markets for companies in your municipality”, he said.
While Ecohuevos Sierra María is a traditional and sustainable poultry farm, it also produces other organic products such as cereal, barley, oats, wheat and almonds; in ‘Secaderos Montesur’ they produce cured Serrano hams with fine fats and great delicacy.
Finally, ‘Los Amadeos’ was founded in 1979 and specialises in the transformation of pork, creating sausages and hams with inimitable flavours; while Jamones y Embutidos Torrente is dedicated to the production of sausages and hams with the characteristics conferred by the cold, dry climate of this region.
