A 40-year-old woman lost her life on Thursday evening when she suffered immersion syndrome while bathing on Percheles beach, located in the Murcian town of Mazarrón.
At around 18.35 hours, the Civil Protection of Mazarrón alerted the Emergency Coordination Centre 1-1-2 that members of the Copla Plan were trying to rescue a person from the water on the beach.
Three lifeguards pulled the woman out of the water in an unconscious state. She was suffering from immersion syndrome and cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres were performed, also by the medical staff of a medicalised ambulance from the Gerencia de Urgencias y Emergencias Sanitarias, but she eventually died.
