The emergency services have been working since early this morning to extinguish a fire in a waste management plant located in the Escombreras Valley, in the town of Cartagena, according to the Emergency Coordination Centre.
The ‘1-1-2’ has received about 4.19 hours several calls, including the affected company, alerting the fire in the ship of the waste management plant, about 2,500 m2, near other industrial facilities and the mountain.
At the scene of the fire are working firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Service of the City of Cartagena, firefighters from the Consortium of Fire and Rescue of the Region of Murcia, Local Police of Cartagena, Environmental Agent and forest brigade, Civil Guard, Civil Protection of Cartagena and medical 061.
The Municipal Emergency Plan has been activated in pre-emergency, as well as the External Emergency Plan of the Chemical Sector of the Escombreras Valley (Planquies) at level 0.
The Municipal Advanced Command Post, from where the intervention of the means deployed at the site of the fire is directed, has been installed at the same door of the affected company. No injuries have been reported.
