Some 42 families living in public rental housing in two developments located in Albox and Vélez Rubio are going to benefit from the energy refurbishment of their homes, which will be carried out by the Regional Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing through the Andalusian Housing and Refurbishment Agency (AVRA), which manages the autonomous community’s public housing stock.
The two actions planned in the province of Almería are for a development of 24 homes in Calle San Juan number 23, in the municipality of Albox, where work is to be carried out with a budget of 795,038 euros, and another group, in this case of 18 homes, located in Calle Carril number 31 and Calle Cantería number 22 in Vélez Rubio, with a planned investment of 485,329 euros.
This investment is part of a series of actions for the whole of Andalusia, which will be put out to tender before the end of the year and will be executed in 2024, to improve the energy performance of twelve developments in the public rental housing stock of the Junta de Andalucía, totalling 586 homes. The actions will be financed with European funds from the Feder Operational Programme 2021-2027 for Andalusia, and their total cost is set at 13.4 million euros.
The interventions in these buildings will consist of the application of different measures to improve their energy performance, such as the incorporation of more thermal insulation in the façades with improved finishes and renovation of the external appearance of the buildings; the replacement of the current single-glazed windows with other compact windows with blinds that increase thermal and acoustic insulation and reduce airtightness; the incorporation of new insulating material in the façades with improved finishes and renovation of the external appearance of the buildings; the replacement of the current single-glazed windows with other compact windows with blinds that increase thermal and acoustic insulation and reduce airtightness; the incorporation of new insulating material in the roofs; the installation of ventilation systems with heat recovery to increase comfort in the dwellings and, finally, the provision of new thermal and/or photovoltaic solar energy installations, in some cases, to generate domestic hot water.
In certain buildings, monitoring systems will also be installed to monitor energy consumption, temperature and humidity in the homes, as well as CO2 concentrations in order to analyse the results of the measures to be implemented in the execution of these works based on the data received.
The twelve works files whose tender is being prepared are in line with the Specific Objective of the Feder Operational Programme 2021-2027, which seeks to promote energy efficiency and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The Consejería de Fomento has been working for years in this line on the residential rental stock it owns, carrying out energy refurbishment work on buildings and housing by incorporating innovative renewable energy systems. These measures have the dual objective of improving comfort in properties located in vulnerable environments affected by energy poverty and, at the same time, reducing greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere in order to contribute to halting environmental deterioration.
