About 500 typical English breakfasts have been served this morning, between 10:00 and 12:00h, in the pine forest of Roda, during the celebration of its «International Day», which is held every year on the occasion of the festivities in honor of the Virgen de los Remedios. The colony of foreign residents, mostly English and Irish, join the festivities actively participating, with the cooking and serving of breakfast and in the evening an international dinner, with music and al fresco in the pine forest in the center of town.
Fried egg, bacon, sausages, and beans in tomato sauce made up the succulent breakfast prepared by English and Irish neighbors who live in Roda, where a good part of its little more than 1000 inhabitants are foreigners. Foreigners and nationals from all over the region travel to Roda to account for the succulent breakfast served for 2 euros, as well as dinner tonight for 2.5 euros, which has become one of the most crowded of the festivities.
The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, accompanied by part of his team, visited this morning Roda «in a very special and traditional day in the festivities of Roda that stand out for their commitment to coexistence and integration of all its neighbors.» Luengo thanked the work done in this regard by the festival committee and the mayor Eulogio Sanchez pedáneo, who stressed the family and welcoming nature of the festivities that he invited to continue enjoying until next Sunday, August 17.
