The Provincial Council of Almeria continues to promote investment in the modernisation of infrastructure and public services in the 103 municipalities. The Governing Board of the Provincial Institution has approved the award of the works for the improvement of the road that gives access to the industrial estate of Olula del Río.
This municipal road is currently in a poor state of repair due to the passage of time and the heavy traffic that passes through it daily. The road surface is very deteriorated and the carriageway is narrow, which makes it difficult for traffic to circulate.
With the aim of improving the road and increasing safety and comfort for all users, adapting it to the vehicle traffic it currently supports and providing it with a suitable road surface, these works will be carried out with the construction of a new pavement on a stretch of 475 metres long and 10 metres wide. The Diputación’s investment in this work amounts to 60,000 euros.
The Deputy for Development, Infrastructure, Territorial Planning and Water, Antonio J. Rodríguez, highlighted this action as “an example of works of great need for all municipalities with which the Provincial Institution responds to the demands of the councils and their residents. These are actions that do not stand out for their investment or scope, but which are essential in the daily lives of all Almeria, in this case, of the thousands of people who pass through the industrial estate of Olula del Río every day”.
In this sense, the deputy highlighted the suitability of these works to “boost the productive fabric of the province of Almeria. The improvement of the industrial estates is a priority for the Diputación’s government team as it means favouring the working conditions of Almeria’s companies, while at the same time improving communication with other roads, which are fundamental to the development of the province and the quality of life in our towns”.
For his part, the Mayor of Olula del Río, Antonio Martínez Pascual, highlighted the institutional collaboration that makes it possible to carry out this type of project which, as he pointed out, would be very difficult for the local councils to carry out using only their own resources if it were not for the support of the Provincial Institution.
The works have a completion period of three months from the date of signing of the reconsideration report, during which time the works will include masonry work, ditches, provisional diversions and the rehabilitation of the road surface in poor condition.
