As a result of a recent and rapid action carried out by the Investigation team of the Civil Guard of Olula del Río, on Monday of last week, a 31 year old man was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with violence and intimidation, committed in a supermarket in the aforementioned town, using a knife.
This action is part of the permanent activity carried out by the Guardia Civil in terms of public safety in the province of Almeria for the clarification of crimes against property, mainly robbery, theft and fraud, and in the fight against crime.
The Guardia Civil initiated this investigation after a complaint was lodged on the morning of 21 August last at the Guardia Civil in Olula del Río for the alleged commission of a robbery with violence and intimidation. The victim, a 52 year old woman, informed the officers that she was approached while working at a supermarket checkout by a person who threatened her with a knife hidden in his clothes.
The perpetrator, who was very nervous, told the victim that he knew where her children were and that he was going to kill them. The woman tried to calm him down and gave him 50 euros in cash, which was enough to make him leave the supermarket while shouting: ‘today I have to kill someone’.
During the development of the investigation, the Guardia Civil established different interviews with possible witnesses, which, together with the information provided by the victim, allowed them to determine the involvement of a known local criminal.
The agents were thus able to focus the investigation and proceeded to draw up a photographic identification report, which, after being shown to the victim, fully and unequivocally identified the detainee as the perpetrator of the reported offences.
As he was unaccounted for, the agents carried out a search operation which resulted in the location and arrest of C. N. S., barely an hour after the events, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with violence and intimidation with a knife.
The proceedings, together with the detainee, have been handed over to the Juzgado de Primera Instancia e Instrucción Único de la localidad de Purchena (Court of First Instance and Single Investigation of the town of Purchena).
