The Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Andalusian Regional Government has launched a new line of aid for the Regulatory Councils of the Andalusian Quality Designations of Origin. This is a call for applications worth 300,000 euros to support the management of these Councils, which are guarantors of the best differentiated quality of our products and which, according to the Regional Minister, Carmen Crespo, allow with this management “to position our best products in the most demanding markets, thus contributing to promote the Andalusia brand, which we are so proud of”.
“Quality products such as our oils, hams or wines, for example, are unique and that is why the heads of the quality designations that represent them and which are managed by the regulatory councils work for them”, said Carmen Crespo. The head of Agriculture of the Junta also wanted to recognise the work that is done for differentiated quality as “they are the basis of many local or regional economies, generating wealth that remains in their villages and for their inhabitants thanks to the generation of employment”.
In this way, and until 15 September, these entities can apply for this aid, which is related to the budgets executed in the previous year, so that finally there is a range of subsidies ranging from 20,000 to 40,000 euros per entity, depending on the applicants.
The Andalusian Government’s support for quality designations includes other lines of aid such as those granted to support the promotion on the domestic market of agri-food products covered by a quality scheme within the framework of the Andalusian Rural Development Programme.
At present, Andalusia has 67 quality figures, including protected designations of origin, protected geographical indications and traditional specialities guaranteed, covering different sectors of our agri-food production and industry, such as extra virgin olive oils, wines, vinegars, hams and shoulders, fruit and vegetables, fishery products, spirits, bakery and confectionery products and other products. Having these certifications endorses a production process that is as unique as it is demanding in terms of quality excellence, also providing consumers with information on its commitment to sustainability in its production.
