The Lucar Town Hall has given the families of the children in the Infant School the new text books for the school year which starts next Monday. Last July, the mayor of the town, Manuel López, announced this decision “because we believe that education should be free for all, this cycle of Infants is outside the free program of the Junta de Andalucía and we want to help the families of our people.
This aid, which in cash terms amounts to around two hundred euros per child, will surely be a relief for the parents of these sixteen children. They are the pupils of the CPR Alto Almanzora in the unit of Lúcar and Cela, and also for the pupils of the Municipal School of Lúcar.
This Tuesday, the local Town Hall invited all the families to give them all the material; three 2 year olds, eight 3 year olds, three 4 year olds and two 5 year olds. These are all the pupils who this year are studying kindergarten in the municipality of Lúcar.
“We are a small town, but we really believe in the importance of social work, helping families as much as we can. And at the same time, we encourage families from nearby towns who want to enrol their children in our schools to do so, they can count on this help from our council if they study kindergarten in Lúcar” concludes the mayor, who does not lose sight of the need to settle the population and to take care of a service as important as schools in the smaller towns.
