Provincial Council promotes the quality of the ‘Costa de Almeria’ in Hamburg

The province had a prominent space with Turismo Andaluz and the Port Authority at the Seatrade Fair.

The Provincial Council of Almeria continues to carry out actions to promote the destination ‘Costa de Almeria’ in the most important professional forums in the world. This was the case from 6 to 8 September at the new edition of the Seatrade Europe Hamburg Fair in Germany, a key event to continue growing as a strategic destination for cruise tourism.

The Provincial Tourism Service was present in the space reserved by Turismo Andaluz, within the Suncruise Andalucía Stand (Association for the Promotion of Andalusia as a cruise destination). The Provincial Tourism Service attended as a co-exhibitor, accompanied by the Port Authority of Almeria, together with Turismo Andaluz and the other Andalusian ports.

The vice-president of the Provincial Council and deputy for Tourism, Fernando Giménez, has made a very positive assessment of Almeria’s participation in this event and has highlighted the close collaboration with the Port Authority of Almeria to continue growing in this segment. “The province of Almeria and, specifically, the Port of Almeria has very good conditions, both technical, strategic and commercial, to establish itself as a port of call for cruise ships, a fact that must be reinforced with a varied tourist offer that is attractive to shipping companies,” he said.

The Provincial Tourism Service has come to Hamburg with a renewed offer of tourist packages. During the fair, an intense work activity has been developed, participating in various meetings with representatives of major cruise lines, tour operators, media specific to cruise tourism and other entities of interest to this business, with the aim of achieving a good number of calls in the port of Almeria for the coming years.

Seatrade Europe has become a suitable way of approaching both specialised operators and potential cruise tourists. The Fair has the peculiarity of being aimed not only at transatlantic traffic, but also at the world of ferries and river cruises.

The fair analysed the present and future of the sector. It has also served as an opportunity for different ports and companies, both public and private, to present their product in search of increasing their volume of business. In the case of Spain, several ports travelled to the event, as well as a large number of associations of different ports and specialised companies.
